27th August A Classic Autumn day at Holme

A classic Autumn day at Holme. With Skuas and kittyiwakes offshore and both Pied Flycatchers and Redstarts on the reserve, 2 star birds out of the nets made for a superb day. Redwell marsh joined in with a very obliging Wood Sandpiper showing close to the hide in glorious evening sunshine

The start of autumn

As autumn takes it's first tentative steps, with wader passage picking up such as the group of Whimbrels pictured, a plethora of butterflies and dragonflies, such as the Southern Hawker shown, still litter the buddleias around the observatory. Pictures by Jed Andrews.
